Melodious Babbler

One of the reason why birding photography is a hard genre is you can't easily get what you want at the end of the day. This elusive bird the  Melodious Babbler endemic only in Palawan is somehow a precious jewel on my end. It gives me jaw dropping looks the second time I saw this bird zigzag road of Palawan. After 30mins. of using our bird call it finally showed up of course my Nikon D500 camera and 200-500mm lens is all set for the action.

Scientific Name: Malacopteron palawanense Büttikofer

Justification: This species is listed as Near Threatened because it is suspected to be in moderately rapid decline as a result of habitat loss. Its tolerance of habitat modification suggests that it is not declining more rapidly than this; however, close monitoring is required, as the secondary habitats preferred by the species may be some of the most threatened in its range.

Gears: Nikon D500, Nikkor 200-500mm, Handheld

Date Taken: May 7, 2018

Location: Puerto Princesa, Palawan
